We have some tough news to share with you all this afternoon. The Dallas Morning News is reporting that FC Dallas Homegrown defender Kellyn Acosta has been sidelined for 6-to-12 weeks with a avulsion fracture on his left kneecap.
FCD head coach Oscar Pareja revealed that news earlier today. Pareja wouldn't say whether or not if the busy workload he had last week between Dallas Cup games, Reserve League games and regular season matches were to blame.
What we do know is that Acosta picked this injury up last Friday in training. Also there is no surgery required for this injury, a certain plus for a young player like Acosta.
The timing of this injury certainly isn't good but what injury is well timed anyways? FC Dallas is set to enter a busy month of May with seven games on tap. Throw in the fact that Zach Loyd is suspended for this weekend's game with the New York Red Bulls and it will make Pareja really have to juggle his lineup selections even more.
For those wondering about Mauro Diaz, we should get a report on how his MRI went on Thursday.
