FC Dallas head coach Oscar Pareja
General thoughts on the match...

I liked our game. I have to say that I'm very proud of this team - the way they executed the plan. It was very good, especially in the first half when I saw the first team creating many options; being in front of the goal four times is not easy in the game.

I like our team and I have to reward the guys because they were the ones that came with that energy and fought hard that whole game.

They have been training a lot on finishing. Castillo is a player who needs to practice that and he knows; it's time for him to show that he can create options and that he can also finish. Having Fabian in the mode of contributing to the team is crucial for us.

I thought that this is one of the best games I've seen since I've been with JeVaughn Watson. His work ethic is outstanding.

The first half of the game was very good for us. In terms of the game, the way we wanted to play, the pressure, the intensity, the options we created. If you measure the fundamentals with the game, the first half was a good example of the way we want to do it. I knew that a goal was coming and that was the message in the locker room.

On scoring with set pieces...

We will be pleased to score from set pieces on tight games like tonight's when it seemed like you cannot seem to bring the ball back to the net. In the first half, especially, when we created five chances but couldn't score, we kept depending on set pieces. I thought we all saw a team that deserved to win tonight and that's the bottom line.

What I liked from our team the most today is that we saw a team with intensity and character. We played the first game against Montreal where we scored goals and we got the three points but I knew that my team wasn't very happy with its performance to be honest. In Kansas City we had a team that didn't possess as much but we were very disciplined with a lot of character and energy. Today it was that plus discipline and intensity - which is a good way for us to grow.

Is finishing the number one thing you are working on right now?

Yes. We work on it at least two or three times a week, all the forwards together. It has been paying off because we get into the matches and we have had some success scoring goals this season.

How close is the team to reaching its full potential?

Little by little we are working on bringing our game together. Every game is different, so we have to adapt. We are fortunate that so far, things have been going our way. We will continue to work hard and try to be a better team each day.

Do you feel you are close to reaching your full potential personally?

I feel better, but it's more a matter of gaining confidence. The coaching staff is comfortable letting me attack. They work with me a lot in training and the coaches give me the confidence to be creative. It is very helpful to be able to play with confidence.

FC Dallas defender Kellyn Acosta
General thoughts on the match...

It was a tough game. I thought the team showed well. We had some positive moments. We need to build on those and take that momentum into our match next week.

How do you feel about the team's chemistry three weeks into the season?

We're gelling pretty well. We know one another. We made a few changes in the lineup today and we still played well, played as a team...

Was it as a physical a game as it looked on the score sheet?

For sure, both teams were out there to win. We were all fighting for every loose ball to try and get three points.

FC Dallas midfielder Je-Vaughn Watson
On his goal...

I felt that I could have done better with the chance I had in the first half, so I thought to myself ‘when the next one comes you gotta finish it.' I made a hard run and the ball got through. I stayed focused and was able to finish the goal.

What was it like to score three goals in 15 minutes?

We have a good team. The guys were running really hard... To score three goals so fast... We had them on their back foot from the get-go. The guys came out in the second half and decided that we were going to go for the kill.

On the ball Mauro Diaz played to set up his goal...

It was the perfect ball because I was running all the way from our half of the field. I was all by myself making a hard run. I felt I was faster than the defender. It was the perfect ball. There was nothing he could have done.

On dribbling around the goalkeeper rather than shooting...

It was a beautiful moment for me. It was one of my best goals. When it went in, I felt like I was on cloud nine or 10, just to score my first goal of the season. I was enjoying it.
