Woodberry became the ninth Homegrown player to sign with FC Dallas. The 6-1 center back played in eight matches for FC Dallas last season, starting three times, for a total of 363 minutes. Woodberry also played 935 minutes for the FC Dallas Reserves last season.
Woodberry had been battling injuries all preseason. He is now added to the mix of former Homegrown players that have been cut loose by the club over the last couple years. Earlier this year forward Bradlee Baladez was also cut by the club.
I was told that this was a move that was in the works weeks ago. While head coach Oscar Pareja does well with young players he also has expectations for these players. If they aren't cutting it in training, which is likely the case here, then you can't expect Pareja to hang on to him long term and wait for a USL PRO team in 2015. It is a tough situation to look at from an outside perspective but one I can respect as Pareja continues to put his stamp on this team.
