Today will be the last day to get your suggestions in for the name of this daily post. We'll have a poll out tomorrow to decide the winner.
It is a rainy morning here in Dallas, so hopefully these links will get your day started off in the right direction.
We're getting somewhere with preseason...slowly but surely. Apparently there may be a preseason game today. Guess we'll have to wait and see. I wouldn't expect a stream of it if there is one though.
Want to send your loved one something different this year? Try a Hooper Gram.
Grant Wahl has learned that Dallas (likely Jerry World) will be one of the host in this year's Guinness International Champions Cup. Last year Real Madrid defeated Chelsea in the final. The field this year looks pretty strong with Real Madrid, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Roma and Olympiakos making the voyage to the States.
Like the article leads off with, things could be changing quickly for the USMNT in the coming weeks.
A bunch of you commented on this yesterday in the link dump, but its worth mentioning one more time. How on earth can you rate a team 18 out of 19 before the main international transfer window opens? Not to mention, all the moves made by FCD were additional by subtraction, everyone knows that.
We touched on it yesterday that the US would likely play Nigeria in a tune-up match for Brazil. It sounds like we'll find out one or two more of their send-off opponents out of this group as well. Not bad, certainly better than the teams we've seen the US play before a World Cup.
I know this article is more about how the Crew will likely have a new logo and what not in the near future but I actually love hearing this line:
We're not the Hunts. No one should assume we are the Hunts. I have great respect for the Hunt family and all they have done for Major League Soccer in bringing the first soccer-specific stadium to MLS. But we're going to do things differently and we wanted everyone to know that. We're going to be aggressive and hungry. We have high expectations.
A slight dig at the Hunts? Yeah, you could say so. But I got respect for Precourt for saying those things.
While Orlando City SC has signed a couple players to their MLS team for next year, this year they still have the USL PRO to deal with. It will be very interesting to see how this group handles it, after all they have models from Portland, Seattle, Vancouver and Montreal to use as examples of what to do and not to do.
Another expansion team to discuss here. NYCFC needs a new logo. One fan created this one, which may be tough to top.
I still watch Seinfeld a little too much so seeing these guys back together again during the Super Bowl was big for me.
And finally...today's stadium voyage takes us to Holland. Today we look at Kyocera Stadion, home of ADO Den Haag. I have to say, this one looks fairly similar to Red Bull Arena on the outside. Plus, I love the duck head.
Feel free to use this thread for your daily discussion. We hope to have more preseason coverage of FC Dallas in the UAE later today.
