Recently we had told you about the International Champions Cup match that was set for July 29 between Real Madrid and AS Roma. At the time it was assumed that AT&T Stadium in Arlington would serve as host of the summer clash.
But now it is official, the game will be in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl instead. The match is a big win for the City of Dallas, who made the announcement on Thursday from the Cotton Bowl.
A representative of the tournament said quality players should be featured by both teams even though the game kicks off just weeks after the conclusion of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
"We expect these teams to play with their strongest roster," said Ben Spencer, Director of Communications of Relevent Sports, the group operating the tournament.
The International Champions Cup is in its second year and is an eight-team round-robin tournament with matches across the United States. Teams playing in other cities include: Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City, A.C. Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus and Olympiacos.
Once we have ticket information we will be sure to pass it along to you all on here or via our Twitter feed (don't forget to follow us by the way!).
Are you excited for a match that will actually be in Dallas and not in Arlington? I can already say I am ready for this one. Just knowing that I won't be driving to Arlington from the North Dallas side of the DFW Metroplex makes me really excited for this match.
