While I didn't think the play was that bad overall, I'm also not surprised to see this news.
On Tuesday, the MLS Disciplinary Committee issued a one-game suspension and fine to FC Dallas forward Eric Hassli for violent conduct in the 84th minute of the July 20 game against the Montreal Impact. Hassli received a yellow card on the play, but the Committee unanimously determined that his action demonstrated disregard for the safety his opponent, Impact midfielder Davy Arnaud. Hassli will serve his suspension Aug. 3 when FC Dallas visits Seattle Sounders FC.
We talked about it on here the other day. Most of you were like me and felt that Hassli wasn't in the complete wrong on the play and didn't deserve any further punishment. Hassli has earned his fair share of suspensions over the years in MLS but this may be one that seems the least likely of the bunch to be suspension worthy. But hey, that is how things go these days.
FC Dallas should have Blas Perez back from the Gold Cup either way by the time they head to the Emerald City in August. But it just means that Schellas Hyndman will also need to be creative with his offensive subs in that game.
