World Cup Qualifying Roundup: Blas Perez and Panama Drop Game At Costa Rica

Russ Isabella-US PRESSWIRE

The FC Dallas forward last 68 minutes in the 2-0 loss.

Goals by Bryan Ruiz and Celso Borges helped lift Costa Rica over Blas Perez and Panama on Tuesday night in World Cup qualifying. The win keeps Costa Rica in second place in CONCACAF qualifying.

The Costa Ricans have 11 points from six matches with a 3-1-2 record. That trails only the United States (4-1-1), which beat Honduras earlier in the night 1-0 in Sandy, UT on a Jozy Altidore goal.

The night for the FC Dallas striker wasn't a great one as Perez was yellow carded in the 16th minute. Later in the night Perez was subbed up in the second half in the 68th minute.

Panama has six points on a 1-2-3 record and is fifth of the six teams. Panama still has home games against the United States and Jamaica left in qualifying later this fall.

Perez will be back in Dallas this week and will be available for this weekend's Major League Soccer match against Sporting Kansas City.
