With the additional information that we got about the potential signing, here is what we know about the player:
* 22 years old
* spotted by Clavijo in Brazil
* has international experience
* participating in some sort of final soon
I’m going to point out that Clavijo didn’t say the player he was targeting was from a Brazilian club, just that he noticed him while watching a game in Brazil. So, if a Brazilian team was playing a Colombian team, he might have noticed a Colombian player. I’m also going to add that Clavijo was last reported in Brazil in January/February. With the Brazilian league not in season at that time, he must have been watching a Copa Libertadores match. So, I listed at all the teams that played Copa Libertadores matches in Brazil around January/February: Gremio, LDU Quito, Sao Paulo, Bolivar, Palmeiras, Sporting Cristal, and Atletico Mineiro.
I then ruled out the Brazilian teams because the Brazil league isn't currently in season, and there are no domestic cup finals anywhere on the horizon (the Copa Libertadores final is still a ways off as well). So that left Bolivar, LDU Quito,and Sporting Cristal. LDU Quito and Sporting Cristal also don’t fit the mold of having an upcoming final and their seasons aren't close to ending. But Bolivar is competing for the top of the league with the season winding down, and is in the the final stages of their domestic cup with a game May 8 and the final later in May.
So, I went to Bolivar’s wikipedia page and looked for midfielders that were about 22 years old. Two names stuck out: Damian Lizio and Rudy Cardozo. According to the match report of the game that I’m suspecting Clavijo witnessed, Cardozo and Lizio both played (although Lizio was a sub). Both have played on international clubs and with their national team set-ups. Although it’s worth mentioning that they are both 23 (not exactly 22). Might be interesting darkhorse candidates.
