2013 Gold Cup Schedule: Semifinals Coming to Cowboys Stadium

Could the USMNT play their first DFW competitive game in decades?

Some big news out of CONCACAF yesterday as the 2013 Gold Cup draw was held. The United States was drawn into a ridiculously easy group of Belize, Cuba and Costa Rica with those games being played in Portland, Salt Lake and Hartford while the full groups and schedule are as follows:

Wednesday, July 24: Winner of Quarterfinal 3 vs. Winner of Quarterfinal 4 and Winner of Quarterfinal 1 vs. Winner of Quarterfinal 2 at Cowboys Stadium, Arlington, Texas (7:00 and 10:00 p.m., order of games TBD)

Championship Game

Sunday, July 28: Winner of Semifinal 1 vs. Winner of Semifinal 2 (4:00 p.m.) at Soldier Field, Chicago, Ill.

The big news out of all this is the semifinals of the Gold Cup are coming to Cowboys Stadium. That means, should the US qualify, that we will see a competitive USMNT game in the DFW area for the first time since July 22, 1993 when the US defeated Costa Rica in the Gold Cup at the Cotton Bowl...yep it will be just over 20 years.

Looking forward to that one.
