General thoughts on the match...
Outside of not getting the result we wanted, it was the right ending. AIK had some really good chances at the end of the game. We would have liked to create more opportunities but that is why we call it preseason. People aren't very sharp. This is the first time we were on turf and it showed.
How close was that to your starting lineup on opening day?
I'm thinking about 80 percent. We still have trialists out there who we are looking at. We also have guys who are not here right now. I was happy with Raul Fernandez. He played very well in the second half. Andrew Jacobson came on and did well after taking the place of Mickael Tavares.
On Mickael Tavares' performance...
He was solid. I would have liked to see him be more aggressive and win a few more headers. A couple of times they broke through on him but offensively, he did very well.
On how the team looked, playing a new formation...
What ends up happening is we're going away from having five players in the midfield. When we brought Kenny Cooper in, we also brought in Eric Hassli. Along with Blas Perez, we put a lot of our salary cap into those three players. It puts us in a position where we have to be successful playing with two strikers. Any system you play in, you're going to give up something, we gave up too much today in the center midfield but I kind of expected that going into this match.
We'll sort it out by the time the season starts, maybe with different personnel on the field. In changing the system we're going to have a few players pointing fingers saying ‘you weren't where you should have been.' But that's a normal thing to go through. At the same time, this was quality competition and that's why we were so happy to be in this tournament - today we were able to see our strengths and our weaknesses.

General thoughts on today's match...
It's great to get 90 minutes in against a very good team. They did very well in their league last year and they showed us why that is... they have a lot of quality players. It's good to get through today's game without any injuries and our guys in the back all did well to keep the clean sheet. We created some good chances, but unfortunately I wasn't able to put any away today. Moving forward, we'll look to build on today.
AIK was the strongest team we faced so far in preseason, and we know the other two teams we face in this tournament will be solid as well. San Jose are the defending shield winners and Portland at home are very, very strong. This is a great test for us and a great way for all of us to get on the same page before the season starts.

On being paired with Matt Hedges for the first time in 2013...
We communicated well for the most part. For our first 45 minutes together, obviously there is going to be some rust in the system but we'll continue to work on communication and learning one another's habits. I think we picked up right where we left off last season. We'll continue to grow together and help solidify our back line.
They were very organized and executed their game plan. Their strikers communicated well and made a lot of dangerous runs off of each other. Our defenders and midfielders were quite busy keeping up with them. Picking up a clean sheet against a side like that says a lot about our defense heading into the start of the season.
