While most of us were stuck in the frozen-ness of this past weekend's ice storm, two FC Dallas academy alumni punched their tickets to the 2013 College Cup final four this weekend with big road wins in the quarterfinal rounds.
You can view the entire bracket here.
Mikey Ambrose (Maryland)
Ambrose and Maryland return to the Final Four for the second straight season as they outlasted California on the road this past weekend in thrilling fashion. Four minutes to go, with the game tied at one goal a piece, Maryland got a game-winner from Michael Sauers. Ambrose played the full 90 minutes in this epic encounter with one assist on the first Maryland goal. Ambrose's assist came off a free kick that he took in the 33rd minute.
Maryland now head to Philadelphia to play conference rivals Virginia. The Terps beat Virginia once and tied them one this season.
Nicholas Rochowski (New Mexico)
New Mexico pulled possibly the biggest upset of the quarterfinal round, knocking off the number two seed Washington in Seattle over the weekend, 1-0. Rochowski once again was one of the only Lobo subs off the bench, going just two minutes in this one.
New Mexico will now travel to Philadelphia to face off against Notre Dame, arguably the top side left in this tournament.
We will have full coverage of this Final Four this weekend as these two players head to Philadelphia with their respective schools.
