The Fort Lauderdale Strikers are in the same boat as FC Dallas, eliminated from playoff contention. Well, in their case from the Soccer Bowl contention as they fell to rivals Tampa Bay Rowdies this past weekend 2-1. FC Dallas loanee Richard Sanchez played the full 90 yet again in goal but was unable to lead his team to a second straight victory in the Florida Derby.
Tampa's Luke Mulholland buried the deciding goal on a PK in the 76' to give the home team the 2-1 lead. The penalty shot was given when Pecka brought down Tampa Bay's Keith Savage inside the box.
Sanchez made several big saves throughout the game.
Fellow loanee, Bradlee Baladez came off the bench yet again for the Strikers but was unable to recreate his magic from a week ago when he scored the game-winner.
The Strikers returns home to face the Atlanta Silverbacks on October 19th. They have three games left on the Fall NASL season.
