The move that everyone around these parts have been preparing for, for really the last 18 months is finally complete. Brek Shea has officially joined Stoke City, making his long-anticipated move to the English Premier League. According to Soccer By Ives, the deal is worth $4 million, of which FC Dallas will keep 2/3rds of it.
There were a few questions about whether Shea's deal would fall at the final hurdle with his work permit meeting, but that has been approved and Brek Shea is no longer an FC Dallas player. Eyes are now squarely set on the FC Dallas technical staff as they use the nearly $1 million of combined salary cap space and allocation money earned by his move.
While Fabian Castillo should slot onto the left wing fairly seamlessly, there are major questions about depth on the wings and depth at forward which Dallas will likely address with this new money. Congratulations to Brek, the newest Texan in the Premier League. We will have much more on Shea's career with FC Dallas and the impact of his move.
