But hold the phone...
ESPNFC.com's Jeff Carlisle is reporting that the club is back in talks with our old pal Oscar Pareja about the opening. Yes, we're serious.
Sources this week said Pareja is willing to listen to Dallas offers, despite dismissing them earlier, and sources say Colorado seems resigned to the possibility of losing Pareja.
A spokesperson for FC Dallas declined to comment.
The Rapids said through a team spokesperson via email that, "We won't comment on another team's coaching search, and any conversations with other teams regarding our players or staff will always remain private. As for Oscar Pareja, he is under contract at the Rapids through 2015."
Just when we thought the club was going to settle on someone like long-time assistant Marco Ferruzzi (which by the way, isn't the worst idea in the world), we get this news.
If you all recall, the Colorado Rapids rejected a previous attempt from FCD to talk to Pareja back in early November. You really have to wonder if the Hunts are (finally) breaking open the bank to get this done. At this point, Pareja is a guy I'm totally fine with seeing them backing up a Brinks Truck to Pareja's front door to get this done.
All I can say is, let's wrap this puppy already. Am I right?
