You see what I did there? The horrible first half to the season always meant that FCD would need to produce something special to get back in the playoff race. The second half has been solid, but fallen short of special as FCD failed to capitalize on literally a dozen second half chances in a 1-1 draw to Seattle that feels like a loss for Dallas.
Perez's Return The FCD offense looked a ton better with Blas Perez back in the middle of the field on offense. He obviously doesn't quite have the fitness levels to pressure opposing defenses like he normally does, but it's great to see him back there. What a backbreaker his injury was...probably the difference between making the playoffs and not.
Frustrating Result FC Dallas did enough last night to win. Unlike LA, who was able to keep up the high pressure in hot temperatures, Seattle faded badly towards the last thirty minutes and FCD took andvantage. But the goal just never came. If Jackson had just finished that 68th minute chance...
Speaking of Jackson Again, you just see the best and the worst of him in every match. There's no doubt that he's one of the best players on the ball in the league in terms of unpredictability and somehow working into open space. But the decisions are just so poor most of the time. This sounds weird to say, but seven shots is too many for Jackson. If he could make the smart pass more often, the team attack would be so much better.
George John It's safe to say that this guy is back. While Matt Hedges, who was apparently suffering very badly after getting hit in the stomach early in the match, struggled, John was dominant on Seattle forward Fredy Montero and I'm beginning to get into the camp that thinks FCD absolutely has to bring him back. Find a way.
Playoff Hopes I'm about as optimistic as it gets, but barring a Vancouver collapse, they're pretty much evaporated. I'll talk about it more later on Tuesday.
Scattershooting Daniel Hernandez was very very good in his 30 minutes on the field...Still strange to me that Shea can't find a way to have a bigger impact in the first half...Seattle was 12-0-1 previously when allowing the first goal this season and Dallas should have won...2013 is going to be a good year around here if the injury bug decides to leave....looking forward to the next two weeks to see some reserves in the Leon game on Sunday and reserve game the following Tuesday...it was late arriving, but good crowd.
