Tomorrow is a huge...massive...enormous...whatever you want to call it game. I made it out to practice this morning where activity was teeming all over the stadium as the crew puts their final touches on what will be a huge night at FCD Stadium tomorrow. Lots of notes, both team and stadium related.
Today's training was a typical pre-game day with some 11v11 scrimmaging and set piece, both attacking and defending, work. The focus is certainly there for tomorrow's game.
Injury Updates Blas Perez has taken the next step from the exercise bike to running sprints around the field. That's definitely a good sign and he looks to be pretty close to a return to the pitch. I'm not sure if the Portland game is too optimistic or not, but certainly you'd think withing two weeks he's back on the field.
Bobby Warshaw has returned fully to practice. I'm not sure if he makes the bench this weekend with de Guzman and Marcelin potentially staying put, but he will be back soon.
Brek Is Back Brek Shea is out there training again and looks like he's just trying to do the little things right again which is exactly what Schellas has asked him to do. I think it's unlikely that he starts this weekend, as you probably don't want to change anything from last week's win, but what a story it would be if he came off the bench and grabbed a winner.
Sold Out I would imagine if you need a couple tickets you can possibly find them, but for all intents and purposes the game is sold out. FC Dallas has added extra seating on the side of the stage, on the field and other various points around the stadium as well as selling standing room only tickets. The 21,508 attendance at July 4th's game was the 3rd highest in stadium history and I think there's a decent chance that tomorrow could set the all-time stadium FC Dallas attendance record at 22,331 also set against the GAlaxy in the 5-1 loss that got Steve Morrow fired.
Sponsors Tomorrow is obviously a huge day for AdvoCare as FC Dallas will wear their new sponsored jerseys for the first time. AdvoCare signage has gone up all over the stadium including the lighting structures and I'm told they will have a huge circular banner in the middle of the stadium before the game and at halftime like the Galaxy does with Herbalife. I'm hearing everyone on the Beer Garden will get FC Dallas/AdvoCare jersey t-shirts as well so you may want to head down there to try to get one before they're all gone.
Speaking of Herbalife there will be a few hundred of their employees in one end of the stadium and hundreds of AdvoCare employees on the other side so try not to get in the middle of them.
In addition to everything just mentioned, there will be a huge Winstar World Casino setup on the north concourse also and with NBC Sports Network broadcasting the game live nationally sandwiched in between Olympics coverage, tomorrow is just a huge day.
