In a sponsored post for Samsung, we've been asked to find our favorite highlight of our team and this was a very tough task for me. After 8 years of going to games, they tend to blend together a bit, but there's certainly a few games that stick out. For me, there were a few that come to mind. The first and second playoff losses to Colorado will be forever etched in my mind. Carlos Ruiz and Clarence Goodson's overtime goals as the happy moments, then the bitter shootout defeats.
Another kind of random game that will always stick in my head is the 1-1 draw with Chivas in Superliga. This was the first ever game of Superliga, back when MLS and Mexican teams hardly ever played and the rivalry was just sparking up to a very heated point. Arturo Alvarez scored a brilliant chipped goal while Chivas equalized on one of the most ridiculous non-handball calls you'll ever see. It was really just an awesome game and amazing atmosphere.
A 2-1 win over Real Salt LAke in the summer of 2008 is another one that is a personal favorite. FCD, with Marco Ferruzzi as interim manager, was down 1-0 late in the match when Dominic Oduro came on to score two fantastic goals and win it for Marco and Chris Clarke(an all-time FCD front office good guy) on the bech.
Then there are the 3-2 come from behind wins in Chicago(2006) and Kansas City(2011) that I'll always remember having been in the stadium for both of them. However, I had to go with the brightest moment in franchise history at the Home Depot Center in late 2010.
FC Dallas played their best game in franchise history defeating the Los Angeles Galaxy 3-0 in the Western Conference Final behind goals from David Ferreira, George John and Marvin Chavez to book their first trip to MLS Cup with Dallas having been the only original MLS franchise still in existence to have not made the prestigious final. It was this third goal by Marvin Chavez where everything was truly real and you could quit biting your nails. Miss this guy. Enjoy.
