Everybody flap your wings
The long, arduous May MLS schedule for FC Dallas comes to an end tonight as FCD (3-7-4, 13 points) takes on Western Conference rivals Real Salt Lake (8-3-2, 26 points). Dallas will be looking to stop their tailspin and 8 game winless streak while RSL plays their first game in two weeks and hasn't lost in over a month. It's the last MLS game for FCD until June 16, though potentially two USOC games could be played in that time.
Game Notes
Weekly Absence Report There's so much talent missing from this game it's just silly. FC Dallas could actually field the same starting XI for the first time this season at RSL with George John cleared to play, but they'll still be missing a host of characters that we're all very well aware of. Salt Lake will be missing a ton of their own key stars, most importantly Kyle Beckerman and Nick Rimando who are with the United States. Javier Morales is unlikely to play as well.
Second Half Hell FC Dallas has allowed 9 goals between minutes 61-75...Real Salt Lake has allowed 12 goals this season. Wait until you see who the referee is for this one, the second half shivers will be even stronger.
Vacation This will be the first FCD game I miss this season as I'll be in New Orleans tomorrow night en route to a week in Panama City Beach. I'll be around, but you may not hear from me on this game. I think now you understand why this preview is a little short.
Keys to the game, referee(gulp), form(gulp) and prediction
Keys to the game - Simple Edition
Score multiple goals FCD hasn't scored twice on the road this season. One goal isn't going to get it done at RSL. Toronto FC scored twice there so there is hope.
Second Half For goodness sake, don't allow a second half goal.
Earn lots of corners Bryan Leyva is good at those.
Referee
REFEREE: Abbey Okulaja.
SAR (bench): Kermit Quisenberry; JAR (opposite): Scott Kachmarik;
4th: Tyler Ploeger
Yeah....
Form
FC Dallas L L L T L
Real Salt Lake T W W T W
Yeah...
Prediction 7-7 on the season
The long road is over. Go home, lick the wounds and get ready for a bat-out-of-hell second half to the season. Going to be tough to get three points on this rested RSL squad even if they are missing a couple of pieces(would be nice for FCD to just be missing a couple pieces).
2-0 Real Salt Lake
