Having been called up from U23 camp at the last minute by Juergen Klinsmann, Brek Shea stepped into the starting lineup for the United States today in their friendly against Italy in Genoa. I don't think I need to tell you that Texas' own Clint Dempsey's second half strike gave the USA their first ever win in Italy 1-0.

Shea went 72 minutes for the stars and stripes today, with fairly mixed results, though overall positive play. He will now head back to Dallas to join up with FCD as they prepare for opening day on March 11 vs New York. What a cool opportunity for Brek to be on the pitch on such a historic occasion.

Attention now turns to the USA vs Mexico game at FC Dallas Stadium tonight as the rival U23 sides face off at 9PM. If you can't make the game, it will be shown on Telefutura, and if you can make the game, I'll see you out there this evening.
