There's definitely some bulletin board material for Schellas Hyndman to put up there...

I can certainly understand

FCD kind of fell apart in 2011, but they finished 4th in points…added that forward they’ve been looking for and David Ferreira returns.

There’s 10 teams better than FCD heading into 2012? Don’t see it.

Yeah, doesn't add up

2011 4th
+ Ferreira
+ Blas
+ Hedges, Rodriguez, and Pertuz
- Chavez
- Jackson
- Maicon Santos
- (possibly) George John

Don’t see how that equals 11th.

I think 7-8 is about right...

Devil’s advocate…

2011
+ Ferreira (at what level? at what point will he be 100%?)
+ Blas (unproven in MLS, likely will need adjustment time…but hopefully not long)
+ Hedges, Rodriguez, and Pertuz (rookie and/or unproven in MLS and will need adjustment time)
- Chavez (proven MLS starter)
- Jackson (proven MLS starter)
- Maicon Santos (meh)
- (possibly) George John (proven MLS starter and top 5 CB in league)

no way

Even LA is questionable at #1 as their lineup stands…they’re significantly undervaluing the loss of Gonzalez and Juninho.

This chart should look like:

Salt Lake…least impact from their losses, great chemistry/depth, no weaknesses.

LA…may be #1 if they can replace Juninho, OG. Offense alone not enough.

Seattle…Zakuani??? May rise or fall with his health. Gspurning is unproven here.

NY…Same story as LA. Offensive power alone won’t cut it. Can Ream be replaced?

Houston…much as I hate to say it. Davis will be back, and Ching is replaceable.

Dallas…our only weakness is the Chavez gap now. Confident in our new back line.

Colorado…good all around, not fantastic anywhere. Let’s see Castrillon’s production.

Portland…Boyd is great. Offense wasn’t the big question though. Does Mosquera work?

Vancouver…best offseason of any team in 2012. They’re a monster – may go up more.

Chicago…decent all around. I’m not gambling on aging Pardo like they did though.

Toronto…The comeback team of 2011 got even better, but only incrementally. Go Avi.

Columbus…I don’t see the Mendoza and Rogers caliber replacements yet.

San Jose…2nd best offseason in the league. Chavez will pay off in spades.

Kansas City…Omar Bravo and Davy Arnaud were critical to SKC. Rebuilding year.

Montreal…could go higher. Loads of talent. Let’s see their chemistry.

D.C….De Ro can only take you so far…if they keep him. If not, drop D.C. to dead last.

Union…worst offseason of any team in 2011 so far.

Chivas…second worst offseason of any team in 2011. They’ll miss Braun in time.

New England…came in worst and comfortably stayed there.

I feel we should be 4-6 spots higher honestly. Anything out of the top 10 is certainly too low.

Sleeper...

For now ten is good. I imagine by april we’ll be back in our normal spot. Side note: The home for retired european footballers aka The spoon fed la galaxy……They must be paying everyone’s salary in Oreo’s.

I agree.

FC Dallas is better than #10 certainly. People seem to have forgotten what Ferreira can do when he’s healthy, not to mention Jacobson. The schedule is thankfully significantly less cluttered this year which should only help.

And sadly I get the impression Jackson being might help, assuming adequate cover is found. Jackson seemed a bit of a zero sum player. One game he would score an amazing goal, the next he’d get booted for something stupid. I still wish we had him but it isn’t a huge blow. And god forbid he ever gets a start at RB again.

That game we won against Seattle last year where Jackson was at RB… shudder

Eh....

Losing Jackson does suck assuming they can’t cover his spot adequately. I don’t know… I type before I think sometimes.
