Mexican Youth International goalkeeper will stay with the club through his 21st birthday

After the downer news of yesterday, FCD released some fantastic news this morning as Mexican youth international goalkeeper Richard Sanchez has had his contract extended through 2015. Sanchez, who turns 19 in April, broke through to start multiple reserve games at the end of this season after spending a good bit of the year with Mexican youth international teams.

Likely a big part of the Mexico U20 team looking to qualify for the U20 World Cup in Turkey this summer, locking up Sanchez for the long term is a huge coup for FCD who could be looking at starting Sanchez within the next two years with Hyndman saying he hopes he begins to push Seitz for the backup goalkeeper job next year. This new deal for Sanchez keeps him with the club through his 21st birthday.

For more on Sanchez, check out a story I wrote about him last August where I proclaimed him the next hispanic face of FC Dallas
