Fitting End to Season: FCD Blows 2-0 Lead In Draw

A slow first half got followed up by a wild second half as FC Dallas blows a 2-0 lead to draw Chivas USA 2-2.

Juan Augdelo scored in the final seconds of the match to tie the game up. Chivas came back just minutes before hand with a goal from Laurent Courtois' cheeky goal.

Chivas was quickly able to undo all the hard work that Dallas had done just minutes before the late collapse.

The first Dallas goal came in the 73rd minute when David Ferreira found a wide open Jackson Goncalves in behind the Chivas defense. It was Jackson's forth goal of the season.

A few minutes later Ferreira would find his ninth assist on the season by sliding a perfect ball on the near side line to Fabian Castillo. The Colombian youngster had no problem finding extra space around the Chivas defense before beating Tim Melia on the far post for the game's second goal.

FC Dallas came out firing in the first half with Jackson Goncalves and David Ferreira each getting a couple good chances in front of keeper Tim Melia.

But Chivas took control of the first half with a pair of chances from Juan Agudelo. Chivas found a couple holes in the Dallas midfield and defense and really exploited the sideline occupied by Carlos Rodriguez. Thankfully for Dallas fans none of Chivas' chances were on goal in the first half.

It was a little different story in the second half as each team came out with a little more urgency about their play.

Chivas had multiple chances in the first ten minutes of the second half and had it not been for Kevin Hartman coming up huge on a couple chances, it would have been a different game.

Dallas was able to turn the tables a bit midway through the second half as Fabian Castillo, Jackson, David Ferreira and Blas Perez all took turns on goal.

Between the two Dallas goals, the game got a bit testy between both squads. Ferreria and defender Ben Zemanski got into a bit of a tussle that caused both teams to go a bit crazy. But after all the pushing and shoving happened, no cards were shown.

Castillo and Jackson Break Deadlock

It took 70 minutes but FC Dallas finally broke the deadlock.

After a whiff at a free kick to break Fabian Castillo free behind the Chivas USA defense, it was a second chance that did it in the end for David Ferreira. The former MVP sent the second attempt back over the Chivas defense that Jackson Goncalves ran on to behind the defense, beat keeper Tim Melia with his knee for the game's first goal.

It was Jackson's forth goal of the season while Ferreira picked up his eighth assist on the year.

The game had been wide open for Dallas to take the lead for several minutes. Between Ferreira, Castillo, Jackson and Perez, Dallas had plenty of chance.

A few minutes later, in the 80th minute Castillo would find another opportunity as Ferreira slit a perfect ball on the near side line to Castillo who hammered home the shot for his sixth goal of the season. The assist was Ferreira's ninth of the year.

First half ends scoreless for FC Dallas and Chivas

After 45 minutes there is nothing to show for between FC Dallas and Chivas USA. Both teams traded blows but neither found the back of the net.

Dallas had a couple good opportunities on their counter attack. Chivas gave up a ton of ground in the midfield as Robin Fraser is using three midfielders in his defense tonight.

Jackson Goncalves has been a big player for Dallas so far tonight as he's created a couple of Dallas' best chances in the first half. David Ferreira also had a couple chances early on but none have been on target.

Chivas ended the first half strong however as they found a way to get get wide on left sideline of Dallas. Fraser got his squad to attack Carlos Rodriguez's sideline and from there they began spraying balls into the penalty box.

Had Juan Agudelo not completely whiffed on a ball in the 44th minute this game could be a different scoreline.
