Everything has pretty much gone right for FC Dallas over the last two months of the season as an uptick in form coupled with a total collapse by Vancouver has pulled FCD miraculously into the playoff race.
Everything came crashing down tonight, however, as a mental lapse cost FC Dallas and they couldn't find some late magic losing 3-1 to Seattle.
Things were looking good for FC Dallas heading into the interval as Blas Perez's ninth goal of the season sent Dallas into the interval level 1-1 with Seattle. However, Dallas turned off for a moment after a foul on Fredy Montero leaving the Sounders with an easy second goal, and they would grab a third late on the counterattack.
The loss eliminates any hope FC Dallas has of qualifying for the 2012 MLS Cup Playoffs, leaving Dallas on the outside looking in for the first time since 2009.
There's plenty to digest in the coming weeks about who should and who should go, but for now I'll leave you with this:
Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright;
The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light,
And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout;
But there is no joy in Mudville — mighty Casey has struck out.
