Lambo In DC

First Maicon Santos, now Josh Lambo? Well Lambo is currently on trial with United. He's one of a few trialist with the Black-and-Red right now. For his sake I hope he does land somewhere where he can at least get a shot at some playing time.

I remember

the first time he got into an MLS reserve game he got his head cracked in a nasty collision and was out for the next 4 months.

Great guy, I’m afraid he just couldn’t put it all together. Maybe a move to a minor league team where he could get consistent playing time would be good. I don’t think it’s a good idea for any goalie to move to an MLS team before going to college.

Richard Sanchez will go through the same problems once he is too old for Academy play.

I see where you’re coming from, college soccer seems to make a lot of sense for GKs, but I’m not sure it’s a hard-and-fast rule.

Yeah

There are certainly exceptions and he’s a great one. As a whole, however, goalkeepers need games.

The thing is, also, since keepers have such a longer career lifespan, if there’s one good keeper in a college class that sticks with MLS it’s about an average year.
