FC Dallas Signs Defender Carlos Rodriguez
The news is now official. FC Dallas has signed 21-year old defender Carlos Rodriquez from Tauro FC in Panama.
"We liked what we saw in him during Champions League last year," said FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman. "He's athletic with a good work ethic and he's young at 21 years old. He can play both left and right side full back and is attack-minded. We were looking for another player to give us balance and depth in our defense, and I believe Carlos will do very well in MLS."
As Daniel mentioned earlier in the week, Rodriquez will slot in as depth behind Jair Benitez and Zach Loyd on both fullback spots.
We saw what he could do against FCD in the two Champions League games last fall (picked up one assist in those two games). Once his paperwork comes in he will join the club.
Overall, this should be a pretty good move for the club.
(Note: It does not appear that FCD had to pay any sort of transfer on the deal, but once we get more details on that we'll pass it on to you)

Awesome that's it is a done deal.
I read Peri Marosevic is available. Any chance he gets another trial here or are those days long gone? Because he played right midfielder and striker for Toronto and did decently I believe?
highly doubtful
Pretty sure that ship has sailed with Peri and FCD. It would take a new coach here to get him back on trial to be honest.

talk now is that he isn’t likely to see first team play apparently.

and since everyone (to include me) took this threat on a tangent...
excellent news about Rodriguez. hard to evaluate these deals…and why Moreno didn’t happen (hasn’t yet happened?) without knowing the $$$ terms. But still, I suspect Rodriguez will have a lot to offer and provide needed depth in the back. I’m all for Ulloa’s development, but it’s a tall order to fill in shoes for Loyd or Benitez…Rodriguez seems more capable of doing that.

Regarding Moreno
That move is probably dead. Dallas has no need for another center back.
Kind of crazy to say…
