FC Dallas & Dallas Texans Return To Gordon Jago Dallas Cup XXXIII Super Group
According to sources, perennial DFW youth powerhouses FC Dallas and Dallas Texans will be the two American clubs to join the Dr Pepper Dallas Cup XXXIII Gordon Jago Super Group.
FC Dallas returns to the Super Group for the third straight season on the back of a successful 2011 tournament that saw them run all the way to the semifinal, beating FC Barcelona 3-1 in the process. Currently, the FC Dallas U18 Academy sits at the top of the US Soccer Development Academy Texas Division standings boasting a 9-1-1 record within the division.
Dallas Texans, the only American club to have won the Super Group in the last 25 years, will make their third straight Super Group appearance. The club went 1-1-1 last season at Dallas Cup falling to Arsenal but defeating Club Bolivar and drawing with Chorillo FC.
FCD and Texans join the already announced Super Groups teams of Manchester United, Boca Juniors, Mexico U19, Paris Saint-Germain, Everton FC, UANL Tigres and Eintracht Frankfurt. The full 12-team Gordon Jago Super Group should be announced tomorrow with two teams from Brazil and a Japanese club joining the fold in what is shaping up to be the strongest Super Group ever. The tournament runs from April 1-8 at FC Dallas Stadium.

Always have to remind myself
how lucky we are to have this tournament. So many great world-class players have participated throughout the years. love watching the different countries and styles go head-to-head and the fact that they bring in top referees help make it a truly special event. It’s been a nice tradition to find a good weekday to skip out on an afternoon of work and find a sideline spot between the two fields where they are holding concurrent supergroup first-round matches…
Love this tournament!
Now that I do not attend Richland College where some of it is played and traffic is abysmal I am going to be able to watch some games from the super group!
