Week 2 of our college review. We are also just over a week way from the 2011-2012 Development Academy season kicking off for FC Dallas who play at Classics Elite of Austin next weekend.
Currently four of the top ten teams in the NSCAA top 25 have FC Dallas Academy players.
Damian Rosales(Midfielder) - SMU Sophomore GOAL - Rosales tallied his first SMU goal this weekend as the Ponies defeated Oakland University 4-1 on Friday night at the Tulsa Classic. Rosales played 73 minutes on Sunday in a 1-0 loss to undefeated #3 UCONN
London Woodberry(Defense) - University of Maryland Junior Woodberry's #1 Terps are all the rage right now. UM came into last weekend 4-0 with a matchup against #8 Boston College and they passed that test with flying colors winning 4-0 in a game that Woodberry started in defense. They would get their biggest scare yet on Tuesday in a wild game at UMBC that finished 4-3 with the Terps getting a goal in the 103rd minute of overtime. Woodberry has started every game this season for undefeated and #1 Maryland. They welcome NC State on Friday in an All-ACC clash.
Bradlee Baladez(Forward) - University of South Carolina Sophomore Baladez and USC traveled to New Hampshire for the Dartmouth Classic last weekend and suffered a 2-0 loss to hosts Dartmouth. The Gamecocks would recover on Sunday earning at 2-2 draw with Bradley. Baladez would start both games failing to score, but he did tally 5 shots in Sunday's game.
Jamie Ibarra(Goalkeeper) - SMU Sophomore Ibarra continued his stellar season this weekend with 73 shutout minutes against Oakland before giving up his first goal of the season in the 75th minute against UCONN on Sunday. Ibarra has started 3 games this season logging 265 minutes in goal with just one goal allowed for a GAA of 0.34
Daniel Premenko(Defender - Creighton Sophomore #5 Creighton is now 5-0-0 after winning both of their games this weekend. The Blue Jays have yet to allow a goal this season. Premenko has not made it into a game yet this season.
Boyd "OC" Okwuono(Defender) - University of North Carolina Freshman OC, another one of the early season's top performers, started both games this past week for 4-1 and #8 ranked UNC. They fell in overtime to Virginia Tech, the first loss of the season for the Tar Heels, but rebounded to beat James Madison 4-1 on Tuesday. OC has started every game as a freshman for UNC in defense.
Jacob Gerondale(Defender) - IPFW Redshirt Freshman Gerondale came off the bench in the Mastodon's 5-0 loss to Xavier and did not feature in their 2-1 victory over Western Michigan.
Jack Coleman(Defender/Midfielder) - Indiana Freshman Coleman did not play for 4-0-1 and #9 Indiana this weekend as they defeated Denver and Bucknell. It's disappointing to me that Coleman is not getting much playing time so far with the Hoosiers.
Chris Figueroa(Midfielder - SMU Sophomore Ineligible due to transferring from NC State
Skylar Hagan(Outside midfielder) - Old Dominon Freshman #21 ODU won the Stihl title this weekend defeating ETSU and Monmouth. Hagan made it into both games as a substitute
Byron Knowles(Defender) - Lubbock Christian Freshman Knowles has started all four games this season for the Chaps, registering one goal from his left back position.
