Watching Match In Dallas Area 9/10

I will be in Plano on 9/10 and am looking for a good place to watch the Philadelphia v. Portland match.  What can you guys and girls suggest?  I prefer local pubs serving local beer rather than chains serving yellow fizz, but my only rule is that I refuse to ever step foot in a Buffalo Wild Wings.

I see there is a Gingerman in Plano now and it is listed as an official MLS Pub.  I've only been to the location near downtown Dallas.  Any input on that location?  Anyone been there to watch a match?

I think I've been to Ringo's in Plano, but can't remember.  Anyone know if they play non-FC Dallas matches?

The Allen Wickers looks like a good place to catch a match.  Maybe?

Thanks for any input.  I'll call these places if I don't get any feedback here.  Cheers.

Is the game on a national network or just direct kick?

Im sorry, that was a pretty important bit of info that I omitted. The match is on Root Sports, which is the former Fox Sports Northwest and only available in this area. So, it will only be on Direct Kick in the Dallas area.

Lucky Lou's

It’s in Denton but the people there are really chill and will hand over a remote to the 50" on their side bar and let you watch whatever you want. It’s been hit or miss on weather there are others there to watch. The staff is cool and when the college kids are there they’ll pretty much get into whatever is on the tv, just to join the excitement.

They should

It’s one of the FC Dallas partner pubs. I have gone there a couple of times to watch some away games. Obviously it would be good to call first. Oh and if you are looking for some ‘local’ brew, ask for some Shiner.

On 9/10

UNT will open its brand new throwball stadium. Lucky Lou’s is usually pretty hoppin before and after the game. Game’s at 6 so at 6:30 you’ll probably have a TV, but it might be hard to get a seat before everyone trails off to Apogee Stadium.

I've been to Petco Park more times than Cowboys Stadium.

The Allen Wickers

In Plano on 75/Central. West side of 75, just north of Park. FC Dallas Partner Pub. Great food and beer selection. They have MLS Direct Kick. AND the Wickers has Franconia on tap (Wheat and Lager only, though they may by then hopefully have the Oktoberfest, or the Dunkel). Franconia is brewed up the road in McKinney. Great stuff. The other night for the FCD — Pumas match, they had $2 Shiner Bock and $2 Franconia.

oh yeah

I forgot, The Allen Wickers is first and foremost a soccer pub, so you SHOULDN’T have to fight to get a match on one of their TVs, but if there is a popular local team on TV , you may be limited. BUT FCD plays the Revs on the road (6:30 pm), which is the same start time for the Timbers-Union match. With it being on the same night and having the same start as the FCD match, you may not have the primo seating selections if they just have it on one TV. The FCD match will most likely be in the Boot Room, but there are plenty of other TVs.

I’d email or ask on the FB page to ensure that they can get the match up for you.

Thanks!

Great info. I appreciate it. My research showed that the Gingerman has by far the best beer selection. So that will probably be #1 on my list if they will definitely show the match. Sounds like my #2 will be Allen Wickers. Thanks again.

Gingerman

Won’t show it. That place has one small TV without Direct Kick.
