That is badassery in its finest form.

The team would be guaranteed to win every MLS Cup ever, even the ones prior retroactively, if they wore this.

Sweet

This looks great! I don’t know about wearing black in our Dallas heat though. I’d love to see this same thing done in white.

What ever happened to the grey kit we had?

it does look really nice, but...

I agree w Timothy, black just wouldn’t make sense. Useless at home, worse in CCL, bad in Houston, etc. They’d only wear it spring or fall in NY, Toronto, Salt Lake, Chicago… anywhere else?
I’m still holding out for CAP tribute (thank you for Ferriera) 3rd kit. Or even better, league-wide NASL throwbacks.

Has this PortmanKunis United designed 3rd kits for other clubs, too?

Nice...

agree with the practical peepz though – black is too hot. Switch background to white and switch out the “FC Dallas” with a blue stripe…would buy immediately.

Brilliant.
Add a white collar to that tweak, and you’d have a 3rd kit that feels both modern and inspired by an old Dallas Tornado kit.

I don’t think the black would be much different than the away jersey in terms of heat really. They are made from a light breathable material, and most games, at least at home, start late enough to where the sun isnt that big of a deal majority of the match. Anyway, it’s just a third jersey, wear it when it makes sense and sell it in the pro shop. :P

I agree with the white idea as well. There’s tons of options and that’s only just changing the colors of the current jersey.

And thanks for the compliments.

So, you’re actually Mike Miller from http://www.portmankunisunited.com/ ? I’ve been google since my first comments on this thread. If I had $55 to spare I’d definitely buy one of the kits from your indoor team. Are you a graphic designer by trade?
You’ve gotten some genuine notoriety for those kits, have you looked into a graphic design gig with a pro club? Please at least put together a presentation for FCD. If you talk up your mentions on espn, si, beautiful gear, etc, I bet you’ll get a meeting. This black one’s striking enough to get their attention, and, like I said before, a white one with an extra blue stripe and collar could strike a balance between classic and modern. Either way you’d probably have to add f’n adidas sleeve stripes, but I’m sure you could do so without detracting from the look.
Either way, the very subtle difference between the base color and the hue of the lower stripes is just brilliant.

Yes, that’s me and thank you for the kind comments. I shot a tweet to someone at FCD with this pic and I’d guess that’s how it eventually ended up on here. I don’t even know if they are looking to make a 3rd any time soon. I just had time to kill so I messed with the colors of the jersey for fun. You could do any number of cool variations with the stripes, but I liked the idea of no stripes or maybe black stripes to help separate it from all of the other jerseys in the MLS. I’m a fan of the stripes, but every team has ’em.

The PKU jersey venture did help me make a contact or two at FCD. I was even able to meet and give Shea a jersey after the D.C. United game recently. There’s photos on our facebook page.

Regarding the black

It’s just a 3rd kit…you wear it maybe 3 times a season and probably only once or twice at home.

Like Opening Day, Los Angeles game and an international friendly. It’s more for sales than anything.
