Around SBN: When Dwyane Wade Lost His Cool

FC Dallas defender Heath Pearce has been traded to Chivas USA

I'm hearing Chivas USA....Al Chia of Texas Futgol informed me he was saying his goodbyes at practice today...much more to come.

It shouldn't come as a huge surprise to anyone that Pearce would be on his way out in Dallas as he and Schellas butted heads due to Pearce not playing in MLS Cup.

Edit: Apparently Dallas was given allocation money. I've been told Chivas USA is keeping their top spot on the allocation list which means it's tough to tell exactly how much Dallas got from this, but right now it looks like the traded a starter and All-star caliber player for not a whole lot. Let's all hope there is a player down the pipeline that this frees up the money for

Braun would be amazing, but...

I can’t see even an organization as clueless as Chivas trade away the best player on their team, who is only 24, for anything less than a base of multiple prospects to build off of for years.
If I’m right and Braun isn’t in the cards, I hope it’s Tristan Bowen, along with allocation money and/or draft picks. Barring that, Jorge Flores and Alejandro Moreno are the only players on the LA B-team’s roster that would make any sense, and they are worth FAR less than Pearce.

Worried?

Ok, I am starting to worry a little bit now. I did not really mind loosing Sala and Atiab . . . I was not "happy" but I could definitely live with those decisions. Loosing JC9 was big . . . I know he came off the bench, but he was our leading scorer. Loosing Dax really hurt . . . he was definitely one of our best players during the playoff run. Now Pearce? I realize that Jackson and Loyd will be able to fill the void, but this is just starting to feel like a LOT of key losses. And what have we received for all of these losses? Just some allocation money for one of them. I really hope that the FO has something up their sleeve. They have freed up a lot of money (around $675,000) by loosing these players and I do not see them using this much money anywhere else.

Going into the offseason...

I felt, great we have one major hole to fix and that was up top. But now, it’s like we are making holes in our lineup. I am so confused.

The sky hasn't fallen...

Loyd will step in at RB, with Benitez, Ihemelu, & John. We’ll have Jackson, Davies, Warshaw , Weideman (wasn’t he a fwd?), possibly Gordon as cover. Can’t remember their names but I believe we have some HG’s for deep cover…

Martins or Warshaw will cover for Hernandez. Villar, I believe, takes McCarty’s CM role. We have allocation money stacked up for a summer signing (patience, it may not come to fruition). Shea, Ferriera, & Chavez in their spots. Rodriguez & Luna (de Noche) up top.

We may get off to a slow start but we’ll still be a difficult side to beat, and if we can get a top 6 finish, make a run, we could still win an MLS Cup. Heck, we can finish top 10 and still be in the playoffs (I digress).

I don’t think we were SS caliber this season but with the influx of youth the squad continues to infuse, FCD has a chance to really make this decade theirs…kind of sounds nice, after the past couple of years the Club has endured.

Well put

Good points throughout your post. It’s easy to over-react but the reality is that this trade adds a little uncertainty by opening up PT for less experienced defenders. This will be a great thing long term, and with the amount of backline depth on the roster it’s unlikely that this trade will be viewed as a big mistake even this season.
The main thing that annoys me is MLS insisting the allocation $ in trades be undisclosed. Also, the system seems as though it’d be very confusing even if all the $ was out in the open. Hard to let an allstar go without understanding what FCD got in return.
