As expected, phase one of the MLS Re-Entry Draft went down this morning uneventfully for FC Dallas. Surprisingly three players were taken. Danleigh Borman, a player I had as a possible target for FCD, was selected by New England. Not a surprising selection given you couldn't negotiate his $42k contract down so there's no real difference between taking him in the first phase or the second phase.
Carlos Mendes, the final member of NYRB to have played for the Metrostars, was taken by Columbus while Arturo Alvarez and his $200k+ contract are amazingly headed to Chivas USA.
Expect more action next Monday as players selected do not have to have their contracts guaranteed for the 2012 season.
