Report: FC Dallas Chasing Argentine Striker

Reports out of Peru indicate FC Dallas is chasing Argentine forward German Alemanno to be their starting forward in 2012. Alemanno, 28 years old, bounced around Argentine football with stops at Rosario Central, Quilmes and Platense before finding his home with 2010 Peruvian champions Universidad San Martin.

Alemanno, somewhat of a late bloomer, broke out in 2010 to his best season as a professional scoring 18 goals in 36 games en route to a league championship while scoring twice in the subsequent group stage of the 2011 Copa Libertadores.

According to the report from Peruvian outlet Depor, San Martin would like to bring back Alemanno who has become quite the fan favorite, but FC Dallas has offered a contract to Alemanno that is stronger than what the Peruvians can offer and includes bonuses for goals and wins.

The report makes sense and I'll tell you why after the jump...plus the youtube highlights!

Star-divide

Any time you see an Argentine linked to MLS, Dario Sala likely has his hands in it so this one probably has some legs. Alemanno has played with former MLS Argentines Pablo Vitti and Carlos Marinelli at San Martin so he will not be without advice on the move and at 28 years old, he is the exact type of dynamic forward Dallas is looking to bring in.

The question now becomes whether San Martin will up their offer and if Dallas can lure "Avatar" from Peru to Dallas. I like the look of this guy and love the passion that Argentine forwards bring.

There are many videos you can find yourself on Youtube, but this is the best one I found with the least annoying music(Don't miss the goalazo at 7:00)

That's the type of striker I like

On the video he is scoring a lot with his head and 2nd chances from the goalie. And he seems to be fast. He looks like a real number 11 to me. That would be something to look forward too.

I think my favorite goal was the one where he got the ball from about the halfway line and confidently took it in and blasted past the goalie.

Don’t get your hopes up too far yet though as this is clearly far from a done deal.

YES!

From watching these I like he seems to move well and make space for himself, rather than sitting for a perfect ball. There were several points in the video where he could have just rammed the ball at the net but he chose to chip the keep, chipping while running at near full speed is NOT something easy to do, this just leads me to believe he’s got a very decent touch and is quick minded to find alternative ways around a problem. Story mentions that he is 28, should be in the prime of his career, not on the fading end, I like that A LOT!

sounds like Alemanno will be a perfect fit. will be interesting to see if/what $ figure he needs to see to come over…

Alemanno

is not a Dario Sala find. Sala was not terribly familiar with the player when I asked him.

Like what I see in the video, and it’s always a good sign when the fans like him — hopefully they like him for more than his ‘Avatar’ nickname, which is hilarious.
