FRISCO, Texas (Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011) – The U.S. Women’s National Team will play New Zealand at FC Dallas Stadium on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, U.S. Soccer announced today. The match will kick off at 3 p.m. CT.

Tickets to the international friendly go on sale at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 6, with a special presale opportunity for FC Dallas season ticket holders beginning Tuesday, Jan. 3. Ticket prices range from $18 for endline seats to $175 for field table seats.

The USA advanced to the championship game this past summer in Germany before falling in penalty kicks to Japan, while New Zealand had its best showing in a world championship despite going out in the first round. The Kiwis lost by 2-1 scores to both Japan and England and tied Mexico 2-2 by scoring two goals in the dying minutes to earn their first Women’s World Cup point.

As a sponsor of U.S. Soccer, Visa® is offering all Visa cardholders access to an advance ticket sale for this match before the sale to the general public. This advance sale starts Thursday, Jan. 5, at 10 a.m. CT and runs until Friday, Jan. 6, at 8 a.m. CT at ussoccer.com. Visa will be the only payment method accepted through the Visa presale and is the preferred card of U.S. Soccer. Terms and conditions apply.

The match will mark the USA’s first game in Texas since May of 2007, when the Americans hammered Canada 6-2 in Frisco in the first appearance for the U.S. women at the home of Major League Soccer’s FC Dallas. This will be the USA’s eighth overall match in Texas, which has long been a state known for producing top female players. The USA is undefeated in Texas, having won all seven previous matches.

The week-long camp in Frisco and the match will serve as a warm-up for the annual Algarve Cup in Portugal, which will be held from Feb. 29 to March 7 this year. The USA will leave for Europe about 10 days after facing New Zealand.

New Zealand is a favorite to earn Oceania’s lone berth to the 2012 Olympics once qualifying commences in the smallest of FIFA’s six Confederations.

The match will be the ninth meeting between the countries, with the U.S. holding a 7-1-0 series edge. After a loss to New Zealand in Taiwan in 1987, the U.S. won the next seven games in matchups that featured an average of five goals per game. The last meeting came at the 2008 Olympic Games, with Heather O’Reilly, Carli Lloyd, Lindsay Tarpley and Angela Hucles scoring in a 4-0 win in the final group match of that tournament.

For those with doubts!

Just go! I went to the last USWNT game we had here in 2007 vs. Canada. It was a fantastic game and amazing time. Sure it was 14000 screaming little girls, but the play itself was worthy of paying for. I can’t imagine this will be anything but just as great as the 07 matchup. I’ll be there for sure!

Well said, sir

but I probably still won’t be attending a match of what my friend so aptly terms “underwater soccer”. Go USWNT!

Great Exposure

With a good showing this could be the future of more top soccer in Frisco.

Honestly

I wanna say the place was close to capacity in 07 when the ladies were here. It’s a big draw, not only for the young women who are playing but as seen above “Alex Morgan” the fellas head out for a good show at some beautiful athletes. I just hope New Zealand show, Canada didn’t when they were playing lol.

Seriously though...

Sounds like a good time. Just wish the MNT would come down here.

Ya

Texas is a big state so not hard to get a big crowd from all the surrounding big cities too. Just hope the weather cooperates. I’ll never forget how cold it was for that Guatemala game.
