Heading into the game at Seattle in late May, Dallas was 5-0-2 without David Ferreira and pushing Los Angeles for tops in the league. However, many of those results had come against some of the lesser sides in the league, Vancouver, DC, Toronto etc....so this game in Seattle would be a true litmus test for just how legit this FC Dallas team without David Ferreira was.
What happened was a 1-0 FC Dallas shutout that had us all dreaming of huge things for FCD. In this game they broke the all-time franchise defensive scoreless streak record with their 5th straight shutout while Brek Shea's great goal further solidified his sharp rise to the top of the league's most exciting players. Perhaps the thing I will remember most about that goal though is the wonderful through ball from Andrew Jacobson who was playing at an extremely high level in this game.
FCD had to fight off 19 Seattle shots, 9 corners and 65% of the possession, but in the end they got the shutout victory to move to 21 points after 11 games. One of the great performances of 2011.
10 Moments that shaped FC Dallas in 2011
