FCD Playoff Picture Set

via www.mlssoccer.com

It took until the last game of the season, but the FC Dallas playoff picture is set as they hopefully make their run back to MLS Cup for a second straight year. The news for Dallas is actually pretty good with Dallas opening up as the #4 overall seed and hosting New York Red Bulls on Wednesday night at 8PM inside the friendly confines of Pizza Hut Park. The bad news is that game will be going directly against World Series Game 6 between the Texas Rangers and St. Louis Cardinals.

Should Dallas advance through that round, they will then go on to face Sporting Kansas City with the first leg Saturday night at 730PM and the second leg Wednesday November 2 at Livestrong Sporting Park.

If Dallas advances through that round, they will play either Houston or Philadelphia Union in the Eastern Conference Final on Sunday afternoon/evening.

Potential playoff schedule

Wild Card Playoff vs New York Red Bulls - Wednesday, October 26 8PM Pizza Hut Park

Eastern Conference Semifinal Leg 1 vs Sporting Kansas City - Saturday, October 29 730PM Pizza Hut Park

Eastern Conference Semifinal Leg 2 vs Sporting Kansas City - Wednesday, November 2 TBD Livestrong Sporting Park

Eastern Conference Final vs Philadelphia Union/Houston Dynamo - Sunday November 5 TBD Robertson Stadium/PPL Park

MLS Cup vs LA/RSL/Seattle/Colorado/Columbus Sunday November 20 8PM Home Depot Center

So there's the road ahead, how do you like the way things shook out? Can Dallas get out of this bracket and advance to the final?

Based on recent their form and exhaustion, I can’t drum up my usual optimism. They do have the talent to make a run, but I’ll be pleasantly surprised if it happens.

Last couple MLS Cup champions didn’t exactly enter the playoffs on a major hot streak. It’s all about getting hot at the right time – when the playoffs start. Like fennsk1 said, the talent is there.

So

Should we start planning the KC road trip now? I want to go this time! Let’s hope for Houston to advance a swell, another road trip to close out the year, sadly Philly is just a bit far lol.

Agree with Fennsk1

Anything is possible but I just do not feel like we are going to pull anything off. I know as a fan I should be more optimistic but just having a hard time seeing it happen.

Yeah

It’s tough to be confident with the way the team has been playing lately

Attendance?

Given the short notice, the weeknight game, the competing World Series game, and Dallas’ low average attendance this season, does anyone have any predictions on what to expect for the Wild Card game? 10,000? 15,000? Is it possible that it could sell out?

No telling

I’d hope it could at least be 10,000 but World Series game 6 could hurt things big time. The 8PM start time helps and rumors are that there’s widespread showers in the forecast for Wednesday night in St. Louis.

Time for everyone to start sending...

emails to the local news places and calling. The media here shuns FCD, no idea why, but it’s time for it to stop.

Since today was a nice and slow Monday, as usual, I’ve managed to find about 30 email addresses and have written a few snippets to folks about what I would like to see them cover. Also be sure to clear out the phone book and send all the texts and calls to friends and family. This may be our last game of the season. If so, I’d like to do it supporting my team with the full 22k (I think) capacity php holds.

80% chance of rain in St Louis on Wed...

….game 6 could move back to Thursday which would open things up for FCD a bit.

But if it

Gets cancelled. Wouldn’t it be on short notice?
