FC Dallas Academy/College player review: Week 7

College Review

Bradlee Baladez(Forward) - University of South Carolina Sophomore (GOALS) Baladez has absolutely hit his stride with USC and scored again last night in a thrilling 3-2 overtime loss to SMU last night. The gamecocks game with UCF last weekend was postponed. Baladez has 5 goals in 11 games.

There are highlights of last night's game available here that feature a few good looks by Baladez as well as some acrobatics from Jaime Ibarra. Definitely worth checking out here

Damian Rosales(Midfielder) - SMU Sophomore - Rosales played 60 minutes in SMU's 3-2 overtime win over South Carolina last night. Rosales also played 106 minutes in their 1-1 draw at Marshall on Saturday evening.

Jamie Ibarra(Goalkeeper) SMU Sophomore Ibarra gave up two goals to South Carolina, but produced 8 saves keeping his team in the game.

"He's been stellar all year," McClements said of Ibarra. "South Carolina had a lot of shots and Jaime had to handle a lot of difficult balls in the box. He's been solid this whole trip and has been huge in picking up these points."

Star-divide

London Woodberry(Defense) - University of Maryland Junior Maryland lost their first game of the season last week 2-1 to Virginia, but recovered to beat Adelphi(?) 2-0 this week. Woodberry started both games and travel to Duke this weekend for a huge ACC match. There are about 3 weeks left in the season before conference tournaments.

Daniel Premenko(Defender Creighton Sophomore Creighton had an extremely up and down week, scoring the biggest win of their season on Sunday in a 1-0 defeat of Indiana. They would slip up against Missouri State last night 1-0. Premenko did not feature in either game.

Boyd "OC" Okwuono(Defender) - University of North Carolina Freshman The #3 Tar Heels moved to 10-1-1 on the year defeating Clemson 2-0 on Friday. OC started the 10th win of the year for UNC. The Tar Heels face College of Charleston tomorrow night in Chapel Hill.

Jacob Gerondale(Defender) - IPFW Redshirt Freshman The Mastodons scored a huge 2-0 conference win over Western Illinois last Friday with Gerondale starting in defense for IPFW. IPFW is 6-6-1 on the year and 2-0 in conference play.

Jack Coleman(Defender/Midfielder) - Indiana Freshman The 7-3-2 Hoosiers fell to Creighton 1-0 on Friday but recovered on Sunday to defeat Butler 1-0. Coleman has played in one game this season for Indiana.

Skylar Hagan(Outside midfielder) - Old Dominon Freshman ODU had a huge weekend winning two conference games at William and Mary 3-0 and against UNC-Wilmington 3-2. Hagan started in the 3-0 win over W&M and came off the bench against UNCW. Old Dominion is definitely legit and will be a fun team to watch as we head towards the playoffs.

Byron Knowles(Defender) - Lubbock Christian Freshman LCU uploaded the stats for the women's team in the men's team spot this week so I'm not sure how Knowles did.

Academy

The U18's continued their perfect season, moving to 4-0 in an enormous 1-0 win over Dallas Texans in the north Dallas derby. Midfielder Marco Ortiz came off the bench to score the winner in the 65th minute of a game that saw star goalkeeper Richard Sanchez get sent off for FC Dallas. Reports on BigSoccer said that it was for time-wasting. The U18's are 4-0 on the season and have allowed 3 goals in those 4 games.

The U16's lost their second game in a row dropping a 3-2 result to Dallas Texans. Zach Dunbar and Milton Rosales scored for the U16's who had scored 11 goals in their 4 games, but a leaky defense has caused problems.

The Academy returns to action on Saturday hosting Solar Chelsea up at Pizza Hut Park. The U18's play at 2 and the U16's play at 430 so if you feel like coming to Saturday's Whitecaps game early, be sure to slide over to field 4 and check things out.
